Objective of the Game: The aim of the game is to win the U.S. Presidential election by scoring a minimum of 270 electoral votes by means of the random combination of numbers on a pair of dice thrown during play. “Collateral”* results also emerge at the conclusion of the game.
- Starting the Game: Game starts when two players (or one player and the machine) have 17 cards distributed to each of their sides on the board (Locked States) and 17 cards to the middle to form the group of Swing States. You must swipe or tap the pair of dice on the pop up box to begin play.
- Play must begin from the East (Right hand side) to West (Left hand side) of the board.
- To contest a State, a player must tap on the active square where it is located to bring up the pop up box containing the pair of dice. The player is permitted to choose the State to play for if there is more than one on that square.
- A percentage score of 40% and above must be recorded to win a Locked or Swing State.
- When Votes are cast and recorded. Votes are “cast” when the pair of dice is thrown. A player wins electoral votes when he records at least 40% on the pair of dice when contesting for either his “Locked State” or a Swing State.
- If a player records less than 40% votes, in that instance the votes are considered to be False Exit Polls and therefore the player is given a second chance to try again.
- If on the second throw the player still cannot get up to 40%, the turn passes to the opponent and no scores recorded for him. At the same time his Locked State becomes a Swing State and moves to the center of the board.
- If a player wins his “Locked State”, he gets an opportunity to play for a Swing State as bonus provided there are Swing States on the same column as his Locked State.
- Once the contest for a Swing State begins, play cannot proceed any further until that Swing State is won by either player.
- If the opponent however wins the Swing State on the first try, he reserves the right to play his own turn.
- The first player to get a minimum of 270 votes is the winner of the PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. However, play must continue to the end to determine other elections like Governorship, Senatorial and House of Representatives.
- In the event of a tie (where each player scores 269 votes), the winner of the Presidential Election shall be the player with the highest number of votes in Senate and House of Representatives.
- The Game Board:The game board consists of eight rows and eleven columns (marked A-K). The cells defining the “Majority map” of the United States indicate the name of the State and the Electoral College vote. All the other cells contain information on the current and past U.S. presidents.
- The Set of 51 Play Cards. There are 51 play Cards, each representing a State (and DC). On each Card is indicated (a) the name of the State, (b) the Electoral College vote.
- The Two Dice: There are two dice with six sides. The numbers on the top of the dice are READ TOGETHER as the digits of a PERCENTAGE rather than a sum. Hence, a pair of dice showing 5 and 3 is recorded as 53% if contesting for a Locked State but 35% if contesting for a Swing State.
